DIY Punk Boots

Boots are a classic in the punk scene and are extremely useful for a true punks lifestyle, which can be similar to that of a soldier! You might not get home for days, and wake up in random bushes, spend nights on the street, walk long distances on drunken missions, destroy your feet stomping to punk bands - so you need a good pair of boots.

They may have been cool in the 70s and 80s but now they are just lame, they have none of the original credibility. Also, all leather boots are made from cows that got treated like shit, from an industry that destroys our world environment more than any other industry including cars and transport! so fuck leather. But how do you get that punk boot look? Well, the secret is my friend that most true punks now use Vegetan Leather (a strong synthetic leather like material) or Canvas. Canvas boots look hard as fuck, and you can easily paint designs and sew patches on! Everyone has a pair of canvas sneakers - but for canvas boots google "jungle boots" and look for the canvas surplus boots, they last for ages and are extremely customizable. You can get these for like under $20!

Vegan leather boots are available all over the place, there are heaps of non leather boots available! Just google it, chicks love it when you have some basic ethics against fucked up shit like leather! And guys are more attracted to chicks with depth.

Customization

Paint pens - are fucking awesome. You can draw on anything with these and they are available in some sick colours like flouro yellow which looks great on black boots. Paint your slogans on or get creative with stars anarchy symbols or pirate skulls - the british flag painted on the boot is was a classic but now is just lame, use your imagination!

Studs can be applied in softer areas and spikes look great too, also useful for defense against nazi skinheads in a street battle also!!

The best punk boots are dirty, get some mud on them and make sure you wear them all day everyday to get a worn look, some punks even rub new boots against concrete to get rid of the shiny look!

But remember, always wash yer socks ya stinky fuck!

DIY Punk Pants

Every good punk needs a good pair of PUNK PANTS! Go down to your local opshop and buy some $2 denim jeans or steal them if its a shit charity run by jesus freaks!

They dont have to be perfect, they just have to fit, tighter is always better but you can always cut the legs on both sides and sew them to a tighter fit.

Now, the essential part of punk pants is BLING! No were not talking gold chains and rhinestones here, were talking patches, pins, badges, paint etc

Get some patches of your favorite bands, check out places like crustpunks.com for some cheap screen printed band patches... your gonna want to cover 90% of the jean surface with band patches. Sew them on randomly, or at least make it appear random! If your good at stenciling make your own band or political stencils and spray paint it onto the fabric, white paint pens can be really effective also for writing your own slogans and band names! Use all the creative powers that the great earth spirit gave you to fuck these jeans up and personalize the shit out of them! Chuck on some suspenders and some NON LEATHER punk boots or sneakers and your set, now just go and hang out in an alley way drinking cider and singing punk anthems with your punk friends!
